A little bit about me . . .
I was born in April 1989 and from that day I was brought up in my parents tile shop where I collected lots of little broken bits of tiles and mosaics, admiring the fascinating colours, glazes and patinas. Little did I know that I was beginning to discover a passion for developing ceramic sculptures, colours and glazes of my own.
At 14 I got a job in the local ceramics studio where I began to share my passion and knowledge for the craft with children and adults of all ages, this fuelled my need to explore the materials more and gain as much knowledge on my chosen subject as I possibly could.
While studying art I developed a fascination for photography and manipulation of images. I now combine both of these passions within my work making it reflect me and my memories.
I graduated from the University of Ulster Belfast in June 2012 with a First class Honours degree in Fine and Applied Arts. Since Graduating I have set up a small Ceramics Studio in an old 1770’s blacksmiths workshop (the Smithy) at my home on the Ards peninsula on the east coast of Northern Ireland.
I draw inspiration from beautiful old ceramic tiles, intricate architecture and the patterns it contains as well as the places I go, things I see and the people that surround me every day. I carry my camera everywhere to enable me to capture these images and moments as they happen. These are an endless source of new ideas and inspiration reflected in the bright and colourful tones, patterns and colours used in my work as well as the delicate illustrations. I work mainly in Ceramics but bring elements of metal, wood and illustration to my work.
