If you're in Belfast over the next two months call in and have a look around the Naughton Gallery in Queens University. It currently hosts a beautiful collection of Ceramics and Jewellery from the top 2012 graduates from the University of Ulsters Fine and Applied Arts course, (Including two of my pieces :D). The show runs until the 8th of October and is well worth a look.
Call in and see some of my new work at this years Royal Dublin Society Horse show. Its free to enter on friday the 10th of August and runs until the 19th. They then tour around Ireland until the 18th of November. The piece is made up of several pieces, all patterned with beautiful blues and turquoises. An Illustration joins each piece to the next and depicts emotional challenges and memories.
These are just some of my new patterns, designed today for use on the new ceramic pieces. The patterns are inspired by old Islamic tiles and architecture as well as antique stoves, old gates and decorative metalwork. I will use them to create depth, texture and pattern on the surface of my work as well as to add a two tone coloured effect to the background of my pieces.
After a year of working around dead leaves and grass blown in from across the fields, I now have a beautiful new, old door into my studio.
Now all thats needed is a new roof, walls without cracks, although these do let more light in so i can work around this one and windows that let fresh air in only when actually open. Oh and maybe an old lock and key for this lovely old door.
